Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) awarded the Souther Cross Hospital their top award at the Southern Architecture Awards.
The Public Architecture accolade was awarded for a design recognised by the judges as being 'above the utilitarian norm'.
The judges also felt the palette of soft, natural tones offered a sense of calm in a clinical situation, which contributes to patients’ wellbeing.
Designed by Warren & Mahoney, the Southern Cross Hospital features a bespoke Pooles Joinery reception desk, along with extensive wooden cabinetry throughout the facility.
